Paradise Lane SAL: Week 5
We're going to make five more blocks this week - then we'll be 3/4 of the way finished with our blocks!!
I have made a TON of Paradise Lane blocks and I've developed a way of chain piecing them that works for me. By now I'm sure you've found a method that works for you, but I thought I would share my method this week.
First, I snap a quick picture of the fabrics if I'm sewing several block at the same time. This way, I can reference which fabrics go together if I forget when I get to sewing on the center pieces.
Next, I sew both background pieces on to my Color 1 rectangle before trimming.
Then, I will trim and press those pieces and move on to sewing the Color 2 flower center piece on on pieces.
Then, I will trim and press all of those pieces before sewing on the final background strip and sewing the flowers together.
You may also want to measure your rectangles once you have your background and Color 2 sewn on. Check to see what size your rectangle is compared to the pattern to see if you need to trim make any adjustments to your seam when sewing the final background strip.
I filmed a time lapse sewing up one block. If you watch closely, you can see three toys appear in the frame that I rescue for my son from our younger dog :)
