State Avenue Quilt Pattern
I had a lot of fun working on the State Avenue Quilt Pattern. This pattern is a modern take on a traditional quilt block - The Maple Star.
Like many other quilters, I LOVE fabric, texture and color and this pattern lets you grab a stack of your favorite fabrics and mix and match to play around with how the colors interact with one another!
This cover quilt was the third State Avenue Quilt I made during pattern development. For the cover, I wanted to pick a mix of solids that really let the pattern stand out! I picked a fun mix of yellows, blues, pinks and purples.
All colors are Kona Cotton:
- Dusty Peach
- Butterscotch
- Primrose
- Foxglove
- Lighthouse
- Butter
- Plum
- Cedar
- Baby Blue
- Leather
- Lemon (for the corners)
I used a simple diagonal grid to quilt this quilt and backed it with some cute ice cream fabric - its been well over 100 degrees here for a while now! - and some big stitch binding.
This is my second quilt pattern during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kona in white was very hard to come by to make this quilt and we also didn't get much opportunity to get out and snap some pictures of the finished quilts. Things are a bit difficult in Arizona right now...not only are we leading the nation in COVID cases, there are wild fires all over the state.
We did head out for a drive and took some pictures of this quilt along Central Avenue at State. This isn't the part of State Avenue we lived at, but rather a more picturesque location along State Avenue :)
I hope you enjoy this quilt pattern, and I hope it breathes new life into my favorite traditional block :). I've sewn up a few other quilts and each one has its own blog post where you can read more!
